How do i get Butterfly Valley?
We drive by car but if you come by plane or bus, i highly recommend you to rent a car or motorbike. The places you should see are not so far away between eachothers but also impossible to walk. There ara small busses also if you dont have these options. However that small busses dont have current service hours. It takes 15-16mins from Ölüdeniz city center to Butterfly Valley.
You will see a fork for Faralya Road (way to Uzunyurt) after 10mins drive and you should turn right to the Faralya Road. In addition this is a dead end street.
The road has nice views with the full of security steps on the way although the sharp and narrow turns. The only dangerous thing is the trucks, they are faster than any cars as usual in Turkey. There are some shortcuts to watch the nice Ölüdeniz view on the road and the second one is, i highly recommend. And you can aldo watch sunset when the on the way back.
How can i get down to beach at Butterfly Valley?
We didnt go down but a challenging journey is waiting for you. You do not allow to go down from a point you choose, you should follow the red marks on the rocks. You will use ropes like a climber and it takes 1-1.5 hours to go down. It means forget the plan like “ i will see Butterfly Valley and then to the Kabak Bay in the same day” If you afraid of height or if you have any problem at your waist,knees…do not try. And you should wear sneakers, definitely. Alternative ways reach to Butterfly Valley is boat tours.
What can i do?
You can swim, take plenty of photos,a cigarette is lit against the landscape and hug your love. Swimming is up to you but if you do not swim, 1 hour is enough to spend. Let’s say you need 1,5 hours with the transportation.
Fix your batteries for the phone, photo machine and take all your equipments related with the photogpahy. Because every rock will serve you an amazing view with the different angle of the same place. Selfies will fly in the air, you will feel yourself like a proffessional photographer.
When you get advice from the locals they are talking about a hammock but dont bring your expectations high. It looks like brownish metal stove pipe and they also took advertise to the hammock. You are swinging with the hotel advertisements. This hammock is so popular on instagram does not mean anything. You will see it in any case and i do not know why i am so pissed off with this hammock? 🙂
Food & Drink
There is no place to eat, drink or wc. You should bring water at least, take a pie break before to start your journey and dont drink cold water when you are sweaty.
Security
Security at Butterfly Valley makes people think on it. You can be the first withness a breaking news highlighted as “died for a selfy”, when people climb on the rocks for the selfy.
So what?
Do not expect high standarts. You should go even just for landscape. You can create an opportunity to see Butterfly Valley rather than if there is a possibility to see there. In addition, there are plenty of lansdcape, to do… around Butterfly Valley.
